 longamox 100ml is a broad-spectrum, long-acting  containing amoxicillin trihydrate, a semi-synthetic penicillin belonging to the β-lactam antibiotic class.

Mechanism of Action

Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by blocking transpeptidase enzymes involved in peptidoglycan cross-linking. This leads to cell lysis and bacterial death.

Dosage and Administration

Route: Intramuscular (IM) or Subcutaneous (SC) injection

Species: For use in cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, dogs, and cats

General dosage:

15 mg/kg body weight, administered once every 48 hours

For a 100 kg animal: 10 mL (example based on concentration)

 

Duration of Action

Long-acting due to oily formulation

Single dose may provide therapeutic levels for 2–3 days

May be repeated every 48 hours as needed

Contraindications

Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to penicillins or β-lactams

Do not administer intravenously longamox 100ml

Avoid in small herbivores (e.g. rabbits, guinea pigs) – risk of fatal GI disturbance

Do not mix with other drugs in the same syringe

Warnings and Precautions

Use with caution in animals with renal impairment

Shake well before use

Sterile technique must be observed during administration

Do not exceed recommended dose
