long range injection
Long Range injection is a long-acting injectable dewormer for beef cattle, containing eprinomectin, a macrocyclic lactone from the avermectin class. It provides up to 100–150 days of parasite control with a single dose.
The unique extended-release formulation is achieved using TheraPhase™ technology, which ensures gradual release over time.
Indications (Uses)
Approved for use in beef cattle to treat and control both internal and external parasites, including:
Gastrointestinal Roundworms (adults and larvae):
Ostertagia ostertagi (Brown stomach worm)
Haemonchus placei (Barber pole worm)
Trichostrongylus axei
Cooperia spp.
Oesophagostomum radiatum (Nodular worm)
Bunostomum phlebotomum (Hookworm)
Lungworms:
Dictyocaulus viviparus
External Parasites:
Horn flies (Haematobia irritans)
Sucking lice
Mange mites (Sarcoptes, Chorioptes)
Mechanism of Action
Eprinomectin binds to glutamate-gated chloride channels in the nerve and muscle cells of parasites, increasing chloride ion permeability and causing paralysis and death of the parasite.
The extended-release technology creates a bimodal plasma concentration curve:
First peak: immediate action
Second peak: sustained release after ~70 days, extending protection up to ~150 days
Dosage and Administration
Dose: 1 mL per 50 kg (110 lbs) body weight
(equivalent to 1.0 mg eprinomectin/kg)
Route: Subcutaneous injection
Administered behind the shoulder using sterile technique
Animal Weight | Dose (mL) |
---|---|
100 kg | 2 mL |
250 kg | 5 mL |
500 kg | 10 mL |
Do not administer more than 10 mL per injection site

long range injection for cattle
Contraindications & Warnings
Do NOT use in dairy cattle, including dry cows or replacement heifers, due to milk residue risk
Not for use in calves intended for veal
Avoid repeated use to prevent parasite resistance
Do not inject intramuscularly or intravenously
Use sterile equipment to avoid injection site reactions
Withdrawal Period
Meat withdrawal: 48 days
Milk withdrawal: Not established – Do not use in lactating dairy cows
Side Effects
Generally well tolerated. Rare adverse effects may include:
Mild injection site swelling
Occasional lethargy or discomfort
Storage and Handling
Store below 25°C (77°F)
Protect from light and freezing
Use within 90 days of opening the vial
Shake well before use
Resistance and Strategic Deworming
To reduce the risk of anthelmintic resistance:
Use targeted deworming protocols
Avoid unnecessary retreatment
Combine with pasture management strategies
Rotate classes of dewormers (e.g., benzimidazoles, levamisole)
